Nuclear Terrorism: Inevitible?

Well im writing this thread about what could happen if there was a nuclear war. 63 years ago the first nuclear bomb was used in warfare. That started the cold war and now the u.s. and russia are basicly sitting on a pile of nukes. Also,  there is iran which could be threatening us too. but thats not the real threat. what if a terrorist smuggled some uranium into the U.S., built a crude nuclear bomb (1kt), and detonated it on times square. think about it. Theyve done harder things then that. remember the horor of 9/11. well if the terrorists ever got a nuclear bomb, it would happen again. That is what i am truley worrried about. not Iran or Iraq but someone getting a wepon of mass destruction HERE in the united states.

Think about it....

RE: Nuclear War: Inevatible?

Well, Nuclear Weapons are lethal, indeed, but they also keep balance in our world. This doesn't mean that this "balance" can't be broken. The aftermath of Nuclear Capability has been observed horribly at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The world knows, that another attack 100 fold of this will be Devastating. Nuclear Gamma rays can wipe out all computer hard drive memory and fry it. If russia launched a nuclear bomb at us, it would explode, wiping out our computers leaving us helplessly unable to counter-strike. The center of michigan is a Common Target for Nuclear Potential because it surrounds 90% of The US's Fresh Water, leaving it contaminated, un-drinkable, and millions more would be affected by the than the actual explosion of the impact site itself. Hopefully, Nuclear war doesn't go full scale. But, we have no power over this as we are mere pawns of a Power-Hungry society.

But, i am refering to the fact that a TERRORIST could get hold if uranum, build a crude (1kt) nuclear bomb, and set it off in the middle of new york killing a couplle HUNDRED THOUSAND people.

-it would be terrible but then, how would we retaliate (ever heard of the russian suitcase nukes). if we tried we would kill just as many civilians as terrorists. also, being near russias border, it woulkd very likley lead to nuclear war if we used nukes in the middle east...

The TSA and FBI are far more advanced in tracking enemies than any of us know. Do you think they'd let some radical muslim sneak in and set off a nuke? No. They have been prepared for all kinds of disasters since 9/11. Honestly, The US Government has Technology that seems unrealistic even 50 years from now. You're underestimating the intelligence of The Homeland Security Groups by a Mile, and blowing the whole situation out of proportion. No Offense. While part of what your saying is correct, the other part is illogical and unlikely. But, what Do I know. I'm just a talknig Indiana Jones Lego Character.Lol. biggrin.gif

Nice topic.

we should chip everyone when they are babies so we can track them.
And also, satellites can see a dime perfectly from the bottom of a pool on earth. This means we can track PEOPLE down with satellites, potato master.

They couldn't smuggle it across Mexico Easily. We have more security checks at the border line than in the airport, my friends.

I agree with Awc and Potato Master. We treat the terroists like they are animals without brains. They are clever enough to upll off a genocide event like 9.11, aren't they? What I don't understand is why people consider so lowly of them. They are capable of Many Mastermind Plots that we overlook.

Honestyly, i say we are all doomed. We underestimate the power and destruction of these nuclear stockpiles. If theyr'e not going to be dsposed of properly soon, they are bound to be used eventually. We should get rid of them while theres no temptation(now) or else, they will inevitably fall into the wrong hands, but this will also be laying down a red carpet for attacking countries.

Well, What makes you think that they can pass through us nevertheless?

i believe that basically we'd be doomed and the homeless would have the best chance due to they have had the curcimstance and that it'd be a big fight for survival and we basically would have to start civilization over by my analysis.confusedbiggrinfuriousashamedidea

I dont see what the problem is with Disposing of these nculear stockpiles. The USA has alreadyn safely destroyed 55% of theirs.. but Russia, THATS a different story.

What russia does with their WMOD's(weapons of mass destruction) is thier business.

But we can't destroy our WHOLE stockpile. it would be leaving us vulenerable to attack knowing we couldn't counter strike.
